The Veterans Unit of the Victorian Government’s Department of Planning and Community Development has established a significant database of Victoria’s War Heritage.
The database contains information and images of sites relating to Victoria’s war history including war memorials, avenues of honour, memorial buildings, former defence sites and places of commemoration.
The database can be searched by heritage item name, heritage item type, region (suburb, town, postcode or local government area) as well as keyword.
The database does not currently list moveable heritage objects such as honour rolls or museum collections.
The Inventory was developed as a joint project between the Veterans Unit and Heritage Victoria.
Search the Victorian War Heritage Inventory to find out more about places related to Victoria’s war history.
If you would like to contribute new sites or information about existing sites to the inventory, please contact the Inventory manager.
Or you can use the online contribution forms once you are using the database.
