Australia’s pre-eminent historian, Victorian Geoffrey Blainey, AC, will be the guest of honour and keynote speaker at the launch of Military History & Heritage Victoria on Wednesday, 4th May 2011. Among his close to 40 books and numerous scholarly papers are award winning Tyranny of Distance, Triumph of the Nomads, A Land Half Won, The Rush That Never Ended, The Causes of War and A Short History of the World. The launch, to be held at the Hyatt Hotel in Collins Street, Melbourne, will be opened by the MHHV Patron, Major General (Rtd) Jim Barry, AM, MBE, RFD, ED.
The President of MHHV, Colonel (Rtd) Marcus Fielding, will also announce the first Military History & Heritage Week for Victoria, planned for April 2012.
