Through historical photographs and personal stories, this exhibition will present the chronology of the First World War (1914-18). It will provide you with the opportunity to discover the fascinating stories of the 416,809 Australian men, 114,000 of whom were from Victoria, who enlisted, as well as the Australian women who served overseas as nurses.

World War I exhibition – focussing on the individual cost of conflict

The exhibition, running from 4 August 2014 until 8 August 2016, will explore the experience of World War I and its aftermath through the lives of ordinary people. It will focus on the physical and psychological damage caused by the war, and the long-term impacts the of war on our society.
