Victoria’s Journey of Remembrance

January 1, 1970 @ 10:00 am

See history come to life as the events of World War One are illustrated through storytelling and performance.
On the morning of 25 April 1915, allied troops came ashore at Gallipoli in an attempt to seize the peninsula. Mistakenly landing a mile from their target location, by evening over 2000 Australians had been killed or wounded.

From 2014 to 2018 Australia marks the centenary of World War One and the Gallipoli landing, a pivotal moment in forging our national identity. Illustrating the stories and events of World War One, this special event will feature live storytelling and theatre performances, film screenings and readings from wartime diaries held in the State Library’s collection. Join us to learn about Australia‚Äôs past and reflect on the Anzac centenary.

The roadshow will travel to communities across Victoria from 2014 to 2015. This event is brought to you by the Victorian Government, Veterans Branch, Department of Premier & Cabinet as part of the Anzac centenary.
