“The Age Of Gunpowder” – History Comes Alive At Barwon Park 2013

The Military Historical Society, Geelong and the Geelong Military Re-enactment Group, in association with the National Trust are presenting a Military Living History weekend at the historic Barwon Park mansion.
Since its first recorded use in the battles between the Chinese and the Mongols, gunpowder has played a pivotal role in the history of humankind.
Empires have risen, and fallen upon their ability to capitalise upon the elemental force unleashed by this incredible discovery.
Participants may wander the grounds and buildings of the magnificent mansion whose surrounds will be transformed into living encampments portraying historical periods from the 1800’s through to Vietnam.
Camps and scenarios include:
Napoleonic Units – 42nd Foot & 95th Rifles, Nelsons Navy.
WW1 – Australian and German units.
WWII – Australian, British, US and German units.
Vietnam – Australian and US
Cost: Adults $15, Children under 16 free.
