A Boer War Day Commemoration Service Shrine of Remembrance

On Sunday 26 May will be our fourteenth annual Boer War Day Commemoration Service at the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance. This year we will be Commemorating the 122nd Anniversary Signing of the Peace Treaty of Vereeniging on 31 May 1902, officially ending the Boer War, MHHV Committee Member Dr Daryl Moran, will deliver the Commemoration address, Victoria and the Scottish Horse.
This annual event will honour the service of 23,000 Australian’s and more than 6,500 New Zealand soldiers and nurses and the sacrifice of 1,000 Australian’s and more than 230 New Zealander’s, killed in action, died of wounds, in accidents, or from disease. The march will step off from the bottom of the steps to the lower end of the Shrine forecourt at 11.50 am, the Service will commence at 12 noon at the Eternal Flame. The ceremony will conclude at 1pm followed by refreshments in the gardens between the flags and Birdwood Avenue.
