Jeff Cossum

Jeff Cossum is from a family with a long military history stretching back to the Boer War.

He became a collector of Australian colonial issued weapons, uniforms and equipment in the late 1960’s and developed a special interest in the Australians who served in the South African Irregular Forces during and after the Boer War.
Jeff started his interest in Australian army insignia in the late 1970’s and has produced six books on the subject, plus three amended reprints. His next reference work on the insignia and embellished accoutrements worn by the Defence Forces in Australia from 1788-1901is expected to be published in 2013. Jeff has a degree in museum studies and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of History and Art.
