Monash: The outsider who ended a war

January 1, 1970 @ 10:00 am

Sir John Monash GCMG, KCB, VD was a great Australian. In terms of importance to Australian history, he is head and shoulders above the pack for his achievements in defeating tyranny and fighting for democracy.
He was also a man who used education to turn his natural talent into ability, allowing him to realise his daring ambitions and benefit society.

Join us as alumnus and renowned author Roland Perry shares the remarkable life and achievements of the man after whom Monash University was named.

Professor Perry’s interest in Sir John began at a young age and led him to write the bestselling biography Monash: The Outsider Who Won a War based on Monash’s vast diary and letter archive.

The event will include live musical performances arranged and composed by Professor Mary Finsterer of the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music. There will also be readings of Sir John Monash’s letters by Dr Felix Nobis (PhD 2012).
