Researching your military ancestors

Andrew Kilsby is a professional historian completing his PhD at the ADFA@UNSW.

His books include Lions of the Day (2008), The Bisley Boys (2009) and ¬†fallen leaves (2010).¬† His history of the rifle club movement – ¬†The Riflemen: Australia‚Äôs Forgotten Reserves – is expected to be published in 2012.

Andrew is currently engaged on two corporate centenary histories and has begun research for a history (We gather strength as we go) of HMAS Melbourne (I), Australia’s first light cruiser, and a history of  the 1919 AIF sports control board (Playing the Game). A Duntroon graduate, Andrew has worked  in Australia and Asia with Defence, Foreign Affairs and Trade and in the public relations industry before becoming a professional historian.

His history consultancy, Cooee History and Heritage ‚Äì www.cooeehistory.com – was established in 2009. ¬†Andrew will provide a talk on Researching your military ancestors.
