The SEA 5000 Hunter Class Frigate project

Richard Seery is the Head of Operations for the Hunter Class Frigate program, leading a team mobilising Manufacturing capability, in preparation for the commencement of ship construction in 2020. This team is charged with planning and documenting the build strategy, processes, training and equipment required to execute the program.

Prior to joining the Hunter program, Richard held a variety of positions in BAE Systems Australia in Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality. Several years as Head of Quality was preceded by working in the Williamstown Shipyard as the Production Engineering Manager during the AWD Block and LHD construction programs.

Before moving into Manufacturing Operations, Richard was an engineering design technical authority on the Anti-Ship Missile Defence (ASMD) program and ANZAC class sustainment support contract.

Richard worked for many years in automotive design and R&D for Toyota (in Japan and Australia) and for Jaguar Cars (in the United Kingdom and the United States), prior to joining the naval shipbuilding industry.

Richard holds a Masters degree in Software Development from Coventry University and a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Trinity College, Dublin.
